Members of congress are being questioned about why they would vote themselves a 39% pay raise in the current omnibus bill now in consideration.

Dick Durbin of Illinois seemed to be a bit glib about the prospect as he answered CNN's question:

The proposal would increase congressional salaries from $174,000 per year to $243,000 per year.

For 2023, the median annual income across the US is $48,060. This means that should this increase go into place, congressional members would be making 5 times the income of the median US worker.

Many would like to ask our Congressional representatives what they think about this proposal and if they will vote for it. The Georgia Record encourages citizens to do exactly that - and do it today.

They don't deserve one red cent they should never get a raise again until there is a balanced budget nobody in government should.
