Metro Atlanta Tech Firm Caught In Middle Of Treasury Department Cybersecurity Breach

Chinese hackers who recently broke into U.S. Treasury Department computers gained access through an Atlanta-area software firm's tools, the department told lawmakers this week.

Johns Creek-based BeyondTrust notified the Treasury Department on Dec. 8 that a threat actor had obtained access to a digital key BeyondTrust uses to provide the agency remote tech support. Treasury says China-backed hackers used the key to breach its systems.
