Since the Nov 5 elections, many have been touting their role and input as cause for Trump’s win in Georgia.
Some have been suggesting that the Georgia Republican Party Inc. with CEO/Chairman Josh McKoon should have the credit. McKoon has published high-end marketing mailers paid for with funds from the Georgia Republican Party, Inc., taking credit for everything including election integrity initiatives. This is something grassroots Georgians quickly dispute and cite McKoon's lack of attendance or participation during State Election Board meetings, election integrity press conferences and the like.
We wondered about the claims that McKoon was responsible for the money raised here in Georgia, and decided to gather the actual facts of the matter.
We utilized data from TransparencyUSA, a site which draws contribution and expenditure data from disclosures associated with campaigns, contributors, payees and such.
Here’s what we found:
Using the TransprencyUSA site, we selected the Georgia Republican Party, Inc., Georgia as the State, and 2024 election as shown above. The system reports show that the Georgia Republican Party, Inc. had contributions of $23,100,413 and expenditures of $24,882,234 for that cycle.
We wondered how more could have been spent than raised, and noted an expenditure apparently returning $1.958 million to the RNC which might help explain the difference.
The site allows contributions to be summarized by contributor and sorted by amount. Using those selections confirms that the overwhelming majority of the contributions (86.7%) came from the Republican National Committee, Trump Force 47, the Donald J. Trump Campaign and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
One County Republican Party is listed in the top 50 contributors: the Republican Party of Banks County with a contribution of $35,718.
Readers can review the full list of contributors HERE.
When sorted alphabetically, one can see that Brian Kemp's name does not appear on the list of contributors to the Georgia Republican Party, Inc.
According to the TransparencyUSA report, David Cross contributed on 22 occasions during the 2024 election cycle.
By selecting Expenditures and sorting on amounts we are able to see where funds were spent:
Readers may review the entire expenditure list HERE.
It's clear that the RNC, RNSC, Trump Force 47 and the Donald J Trump campaign represented the vast majority of financial support for Trump's campaign here in Georgia..
Based on contributions and individual payments it appears the Trump Force 47 organization was funding those assigned to Trump Force 47 field work within Georgia (readers may review expenditure details).
There were hundreds of small (less than $1 to low dollar amount of anonymous) transactions which we have in the past noted concern over. We expect to explore those more in future articles.
