For weeks the Georgia record has been raising the alarm regarding SB144, also referred to as "the pesticide bill".

The bill functions to create a legal shield to block lawsuits against chemical companies when they fail to include warnings about certain chemicals on their EPA warning label.

Chemchina and Bayer are two companies who benefit from SB 144.

Georgia's farmers and consumers are put at greater risk because of SB144, yet the legislature voted to quickly pass the bill.    It now awaits signature by Governor Kemp.

Other states realizing the function of the bill have halted very similar legislation.   Iowa, Oklahoma, Montana, Idaho, and Mississippi stopped such bills with Tennessee killing the bill just last week.

Missouri North Dakota and Florida are still fighting against the bill.

The biggest question is why would Georgia's legislature pass this when so many other states are stopping it and who is to blame?

This session we noted a number of decisions by the legislature which seemed 180° out of sync with the best interest of Georgians. SB 144 is one example, SB68 Tort Reform is another.

We believe it's time to call out all those who appear to be working against citizens best interest and put them in a position of having to explain their actions.

We recommend everyone know who from their area voted for this dangerous bill.

Below is the list of House members again with those who voted for the pesticide bill shown in green and those who voted against it shown in red.

In the coming weeks many across Georgia will have the opportunity to question their elected officials regarding this bill and why they voted for it.    We recommend they ask exactly that.
