The man shot and killed on President Street near Wahlstrom Road on Saturday morning, October 10, was Saul Gabriel Garcia Santos, 20, according to the Chatham County Coroner's Office. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. The investigation revealed Garcia Santos had sustained a gunshot wound.
The man accused of shooting and killing the 20-year-old is 40-year-old Ramone Green. Detectives charged Green with felony murder and aggravated assault and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Police warned the public that Green was armed and dangerous. He turned himself in a day later and was taken into custody.
Saul Garcia Santos worked with Green at BC Brothers Moving, according to a person who worked with both men at the company.
"Saul was the nicest guy there, always helpful to others," said our source. He described Saul as Firm but fair and wise beyond his years.
According to jail records cited by social media, Green is a registered gang member with the Bloods, but it is not yet clear whether the killing was gang related. The Georgia Record has not independently confirmed that Green is a member of the Bloods, and police have not commented on whether gang involvement played a role in the killing. Green has not been convicted of any crime in this case.
Univision Atlanta reported that Garcia Santos was allegedly killed by a former employee he had fired hours earlier. His mother wants justice. A GoFundMe was created to help support the family, and the page describes him as a beloved son. It states, “There are no words to ease the pain of losing a child. It is a kind of heartbreak that no parent should ever have to experience.”
This follows Chatham County Sheriff Richard Coleman announcing a gang enforcement unit a few weeks ago. Coleman said his office has information that there are 18 active gangs in the county.
