changes-comingIn an effort to enact as much platform as possible for his Stub Term, Chris Coughlin is including several sweeping resolutions to change the direction and scope of our local government, for years to come.

    • Change the Charter. City Council has been a deficient council more often than not. The high turnover rate and resistance by Mayor Bodker to have a special election has left seats empty far too long. This charter change will prevent this scenario from repeating itself.
    • No More HUD Money. Despite being the wealthiest City in Georgia, historically, our City has sought, advocated and received Department of Housing and Urban Development money. In an effort to cut any strings attached or unknown compliance requirements, Chris Coughlin seeks to stop it. Stephanie Endres has advocated yearly against these HUD dollars and will have a chance to discuss and possibly vote on the issue.
    • Charter Commission.  Both Chris Coughlin and Stephanie Endres spoke about the need for the City Charter to be thoroughly reviewed by a citizen panel. Term limits, voting districts, and stricter ethical standards are some of the concerns needing to be addressed.
    • Reduce Business Taxes. Johns Creek has some of the highest business taxes in Fulton County. This is expected to be addressed.
    • Millage Rate / Budget. Johns Creek has historically passed the Millage Rate before adopting the budget. This is also expected to be addressed, along with starting the budget discussions as soon as possible, rather then just before the deadline.
    • Much More!

Thank you Chris and Stephanie -- I only wished that Chris was able to pull off winning the full term also. But at least you are doing the best with the limited time you have.
