The Georgia Record was relaunched in June of 2021 and has been extremely successful fighting corruption in the state named after King George of England. The original paper was started in 1899 and published into the early 20th century. In 2020, CDM (Creative Destruction Media) acquired Johns Creek Post and brought back The Georgia Record to better represent the state rather than just Johns Creek News.

People, you need to read the list of TSPLOST projects that Johns Creek has in this draft proposal. Widening 141 to six lanes from the river to McInnis Ferry for $10 million?

And now up to $8 million for 141-State Bridge?

More of an issue is that these projects now seem to be moving from one road improvement list to the TSPLOST list.

So the TSPLOST seems to be an opportunity for a new source of funding the City was in one way or another going to pursue already.

This will be the biggest tax increase we have seen in Johns Creek possibly ever. Will those dollars freed up in the budget if we pass a TSPLOST be used to reduce our millage rate?

Or will this just be a five year godsend of dollars that allows the City to shift projects out of their own budget, into the TSPLOST budget, freeing up those dollars for projects that this City Management has been fantasizing about for the last two years?

Somehow this feels like we are being conned into a major tax increase to fund items we were already in the process of funding.

Watch the for sale signs pop up in yards all over JC as graduation nears. I think there could be more than ever this year. The ones I know of have no intention of buying another property in JC. Most of them are looking at Forsyth properties, some are looking at Cherokee, all want out of JC and out of Fulton Co and none of them want out because we don't have a District.

I don't recall seeing the TSPLOST major items on the city list. They are way too big for the city to absorb. I have seen minor improvements on the city list, but adding an additional lane on 141 thru the entire city and States Bridge widening require additional funding, beyond what the city can afford.
