Billboard Ads: Are They Appropriate? Although the  Johns Creek city's settlement with the billboard companies placed some restrictions on advertising content (prohibiting advertising of abortion services, hookah bars, illegal content, and terrorist activity), many residents feel offended by some of the current ads.

Alcohol ads are a frequent image on Clear Channels signs, many within a short distance of schools and churches. Many churches in the area are a refuge for people suffering addictions and even sponsor support groups.

Max's Bottle Shop is adjacent to the McGinnis Ferry Rd Billboard and across from JC Baptist Church & preschool.

Concerns are escalating regarding the newest Billboard at Fairway Package. It is in close proximity to 4 schools, and 2 churches.

Within Fairway’s contract is a provision of FREE ADVERTISING for itself and tenants. The provision of these free ads seems in violation of the city's settlement terms. The free ads are timed at an 8-second flip, and in the settlement, the ads cannot flip before 10 seconds. More ads within a day!

Clear Channel is a member of the Outdoor Advertising Association of America. They have a “Code of Industry Principles” that address ads containing content or products that are illegal for sale minors. Seemingly, Clear Channel does not abide by this Code.

    Billboards Hacking Concerns

Just 2 months ago, a sign was hacked in Indonesia, and a pornographic video was projected to shocked pedestrians.

Closer to home, a Billboard in Buckhead was hacked last year. A lewd and grotesque image replaced advertising on a sign at Peachtree & East Paces Ferry Rd.

The disturbing image of a naked man shocked drivers, within the busy intersection. Atlanta Police had to sever the power to the Billboard to stop the sign from appearing.

Lastly, FYI: Security is a myth.

It seems obvious Johns Creek won't continue to be one of the Best Places to Raise A Family with this trash on these nasty Billboards.

Could the City look any worse?
