One way to judge the effectiveness of a political party is to measure their success at voter turnout and choice during key elections.

Using this as a measurement, Cobb county seems to have lost ground to the political left since 2020.

The Georgia Secretary of State publishes election results for races held in Georgia. https://results.sos.ga.gov/results/public/Georgia

The SoS elections report for the Presidential race in 2020 shows 393,746 voters showed up in Cobb County to cast votes for President of the United States:

In 2024, 401,369 voters cast votes for President:

(Note: some voters cast ballots for other races but apparently chose not to vote for a Presidential candidate)

So how did the Cobb County GOP do in gaining votes for Trump? They lost significant ground versus Democrats despite what appeared to be a 6-7% Trump lead going into the election:

Salleigh Grubbs, Cobb County GOP chair, has made it sound as if Cobb County was a great success. However the votes show that in the 2024 Presidential race, the Democrats increased the vote total for their candidate by TWICE as much as Republicans.

In fact, while Trump won Georgia overall, he lost Cobb county 42% to 57%.

Cobb county Republicans are now in soul-searching mode to determine what changes need to be made, in Leadership and in processes, to be able to successfully support real conservative candidates in the 2026 races.
