The Georgia Record received the following email and are publishing to help this family find their means of making a living during these holidays.
Hello!
My name is Randy, and I am asking you to write a story on my situation.
My truck, trailer, and a large amount of my store's product was stolen from me when I stopped overnight at a hotel in Georgia in August 2025. This was not a large truck for shipping or transporting goods such as you see on the road, merely a diesel Ford truck with a trailer we pulled behind us as I and my family traveled to try and sell crystals, stones, gemstones, and items made out of them. This theft happened despite us parking in a designated safe and monitored place in the hotel parking lot, as I have done over the many years of operating my small family owned and run business.
I have posted about my devastating loss in many different forums, groups, and social media accounts for nearly every single state since it happened in an attempt to find information or recover the stolen product, though my hope has dwindled significantly as time goes on. Due to my attempts at recovery, when you google ‘stolen crystal bracelets in Georgia’, I pop up for nearly 6 or 7 of the first 10 results.

As advised by the Police Dept., I had given up any hope of recovering the truck and trailer mere days after it was stolen, though I remained hopeful that with us selling such specialized products, that we may happen to recover some of the product with a monetary reward offered in exchange. Sadly, that has long since shown to be ineffective.
I had insurance on the truck and trailer, but not the product due to advice given a few years ago based on the difficulty of giving value to rocks and crystals in a way that would be universally accepted by insurance. I have not had great luck in finding any leads or conclusions other than being told it is all long gone, despite my constant attempts at recovery including traveling from my home in Florida all the way back up to Georgia multiple times.
The detective on my case is James Sears, and he is with the McDonough Georgia police department. Though they have not had a lead just as I have had only a few. I am sharing all of this with you, in hopes of any kind of conclusion to my situation as it has greatly impacted my family. Myself, my wife, our children and additional employees all rely on this business for our livelihoods, and while I know it has been a great amount of time that has passed, we are not able to let go just yet. We still have hope, though it grows fainter by the day as we find less and less assistance and leads.

I have done significant research, and as it turns out this situation is not uncommon in the area that it happened to me. It was surprising for me to find out as it never crossed my mind, but Georgia has many many trucks and trailers stolen every year, it is common knowledge in the community there, according to my research and the words of the Police Dept. When I heard this my heart broke, it was heavily implied and imprinted on me that I should give up, that I would recover nothing, that I should fight for the insurance instead. As if it were that easy to let go merely a week or two after it happened, and that our hard work over the last 10+ years to raise our business from the ground up meant nothing to anyone but ourselves.
Surprisingly, a small light during all of this darkness, was finding how supportive, considerate, and kind our fellows in the crystal, gem, and mineral community had been. With many people, including competitors, supporting us with posts, words of encouragement, and helping us search for leads! It was an unexpected support system that we have come to cherish and be thankful for. We hope and would appreciate it if that support could extend to you, and that you would help us give this one last big push to try and help us! Who knows, perhaps it is just what we need to, if not recover anything, at least hold those who did this responsible!
Thank you so much, have a great day and Happy Holidays!!
Randy.
