Major election integrity news today as President Trump fired the remaining 3 commissioners at the Election Assistance Commission.
The Supreme Court decision on the Trump vs. Slaughter case just got the ball rolling to clean up our elections in the future, writes @7thDean.
The Slaughter case is U.S. Supreme Court decision that ruled 6–3 that the President has the authority to fire commissioners of independent agencies without cause.
And President Trump didn't waste any time, on Thursday he dismissed all the remaining commissioners of the Election Assistance Commission.
For those that don't know, The Election Assistance Commission is an independent agency of the United States government. The Commission serves as a national clearinghouse and resource of information regarding election administration. It is charged with administering payments to states and developing guidance to meet HAVA requirements, adopting voluntary voting system guidelines, and accrediting voting system test laboratories and, [THIS IS THE IMPORTANT ONE] certifying voting equipment.
It is also charged with developing and maintaining a national mail voter registration form. By firing all the remaining commissioners at the EAC President Trump has just opened the door to appoint new commissioners, who at any point could invalidate all voting machines that are in use nationwide. That will mean we will have to go back to the old system with same day voting and manual hand-counting of paper ballots...
Palm Beach election fraud investigator Jeff Buongiorno declared, "President Trump was well within his constitutional authority under the Supreme Court's Slaughter decision when he removed the remaining EAC commissioners, and he did the right thing. The EAC is only one node in a network of federal agencies that have failed the American voter: the FEC has been hamstrung for years and has done nothing about smurfing schemes that launder illegal campaign contributions through unwitting small donors; the USPS Board of Governors seats Amber McReynolds, a career vote-by-mail activist whose NGO work helped convert Colorado into an all-mail-ballot state, now overseeing the very postal system that carries those ballots; and under the prior administration, CISA was handed sweeping access to .gov portals — including state voter registration systems. Removing commissioners is a start, but what these agencies need is a criminal investigation, and I am calling for exactly that.
"That investigation must follow the HAVA money — including the funds Palm Beach County received while its voting machines contained internal modems and were connected to the internet, a configuration I believe placed that equipment out of compliance with the very HAVA standards the funding was conditioned on. The EAC once published the federal definition of a blank ballot and reported on them nationally, but that reporting stopped in 2016 — and in the vacuum, Palm Beach County hijacked the definition. Under guidance shaped by Cord Byrd and Maria Matthews, blank ballots were reclassified as "voter intent" matters on the DS-DE 420 and vanished from the DS-DE 40 reporting, so the public can no longer see how many blank ballots are being counted. That change was adopted by the Palm Beach County Canvassing Board during the very period I was banned from attending its meetings — in my own race against Supervisor of Elections Wendy Link, while my opponent enjoyed a close nexus to that same board as an advisor. The voters deserve answers, and I intend to get them."
"I’m gratified to see President Trump take decisive action. I had an opportunity to speak with Mark Meadows late last year about firing everyone at the EAC because it’s the most incompetent group of election overseers in the world. It’s about time we take bold action and clean house," said former GA GOP Second Vice Chair David Cross.
