Many would admit that tensions can run high during campaigns, and certainly the leadup to the Georgia GOP Convention has been no exception.   Regardless of the areas that two or more people agree on, sometimes comparatively minor differences in opinion can quickly escalate to arguments and unkind words, just as with personal relationships.

At the same time, some psychologists have noted that emotion can also open the door to speaking truths that would otherwise be left unsaid in the interest of equanimity.  Is that what happened in the above social media exchange example?  We don’t know.

In fairness, Mr. Futch did later send an apology along to Ms. Dooley for his comment.   We certainly hope that Mr. Futch, and all GOP members, place conservative values and the right for people to openly and fairly choose their leaders above the value of money and privilege.

The Georgia Record was relaunched in June of 2021 and has been extremely successful fighting corruption in the state named after King George of England. The original paper was started in 1899 and published into the early 20th century. In 2020, CDM (Creative Destruction Media) acquired Johns Creek Post and brought back The Georgia Record to better represent the state rather than just Johns Creek News.
