After nearly a year of delay, a hearing in the suit against Joel Natt was scheduled for today. In a bizarre turn of events and after attorneys for the plaintiff and defendant were left waiting in Court for nearly half an hour, a court representative came out an informed the parties that the Judge couldn't be in he court today.

This latest comes after nearly a year of waiting in a Quo Wanrranto case which normally should be a quick matter for the court to settle.

The Plaintiff says that the legal process to nominate and appoint a member of the Forsyth County Board of Elections was not followed and consequently Joel Natt is in an election board seat which should have been assigned to the Plaintiff.

In the months before Natt's previous term was to expire, he Forsyth County Commission was given notice by the Forsyth County GOP that Natt's nomination was delivered in error by past Chairman Jerry Marinich without signature and without ratification of the Forsyth County GOP.

For reasons they have not specified, the Board refused to acknowledge the change in nomination. Members of the Forsth GOP insisted that a change in nominee was in line with county law and that the preceding nomination was not compliant with the law.

In 2022, Natt was caught on video stating he agreed the Forsyth voter rolls included up to 20% that should not be included:

The Forsyth GOP enlisted Brad Carver of the GA GOP, Inc election integrity committee and Chairman Josh McKoon. Neither of whom were successful in changing the course the County Commission seemed intent on following. Some later questioned whether they ever intended to help fix the wrongful nomination or whether they were simply running the clock out.

Further investigation showed flaws in the nomination and certification process required under Georgia law, but even with this information in hand the Forsyth County Commission refused any changes and ultimately allowed Natt to be sworn in to a seat using a nomination the County GOP said had been voided.

Once the Quo Warranto suit had been filed it should have been the work of a month or two for a court to examine the nomination and certification processes and rule on whether Natt should remain or be removed.

The next strange occurrence came when all three superior court judges in Forsyth County simultaneously recused themselves from the matter. Notably their recusal contained no explanation as to their reasons for taking such action. An Open Record Request for their correspondence leading up to the recusal was denied, stating that their correspondence is privileged and immune to disclosure under Georgia's open record laws.

Representatives of Forsyth GOP wonder why the Forsyth County Commission, their attorney and the court system within Forsyth County would all fight so hard to keep Joel Natt in place on the election board.

Is there some reason he's needed there as we near the 2024 election? We expect we may see more drama as the members of Forsyth's GOP press for resolution of this case and a return to lawful nomination of their election board members.
