Early voting for Georgia’s November general election begins Tuesday, Oct. 13 and ends Friday, Oct. 30. In previous years, early voting began on a Monday but because of a federal holiday, this year’s early voting will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 13 and continue through Friday, Oct. 30. In addition to the typical Monday through Friday hours, some locations will be open on Saturday and Sunday.
According to WSB-TV, many local, county, municipal and school board races will be decided in the November general election. Voters across the state will cast ballots for Georgia Governor and Lieutenant Governor as well as Secretary of State and Attorney General. All 14 Georgia Congressional Districts will be up for election as well as the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff, who is running for re-election against Republican challenger Rep. Mike Collins, who won the Republican Primary runoff held in August. Ossoff is the only Senate Democrat up for re-election in a state that President Trump carried in 2020.
Unlike traditional elections where voters are tied to a specific polling place, voters can visit any early voting location in their county of residence during early voting. Many counties are offering even more locations than usual and voters can find out about the locations in their county on the Secretary of State’s website. Voters can select the November 3 general election from the drop-down menu on the left and then select the county in which they reside from the menu on the right.
While the registration deadline for the general election was Oct. 5, citizens can register or check the status of their voter registration for future elections by visiting the Secretary of State’s website and utilizing the My Voter Page to view county specific information.
Proof of identification is required to vote in person at an early voting location as well as by absentee ballot by mail. Photo identification such as a driver’s license, passport or voter identification card are accepted at in person early voting sites. Seven forms of identification are accepted.
