Key social media platforms are down as of approximately 11:41 a.m. EST. This is an unprecedented occurrence and the source is unknown. This has been confirmed by several independent sources. Currently, it is affected Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp. Facebook Messenger is also down.

All are owned by the same company - Facebook. Instagram was acquired in 2012; Whatsapp was acquired in 2014.
