The Georgia Record has reported extensively on the growing list of concerns surrounding the Georgia GOP and Chairman Josh McKoon.
Analysis of FEC filings have uncovered what appear to be personal expenses including personal training, dry cleaning, clothing, entertainment and more. McKoon has stated that expenses were paid back, but refuses to show proof that repayment actually occurred.
Now comes word that during the first week of May, Georgia RNC National Committeewoman, Amy Kremer, issued an email letter to Josh McKoon, Chairman of the Georgia GOP, and Karen Hentschel GOP Finance, asking for answers to a list of questions surrounding GOP expenses and actions.
Ms. Kremer commented on the status of her inquiry in an X.com post issued yesterday:
It has now been two full weeks since I emailed GAGOP Chairman
@JoshMcKoon and GAGOP Accounting Director, Karen Hentschel (who is in control of the finances), with serious concerns about GAGOP
@GaRepublicans finances—and they haven’t even acknowledged me. GAGOP Treasurer Laurie McClain responded that she does NOT have the information I am asking to review. I followed up again today with Josh and Karen. Still nothing hours later. As the RNC National Committeewoman for Georgia and a GAGOP Executive Committee member, it is unacceptable that not only are donor dollars being abused—but that those responsible refuse to answer basic questions. This isn’t transparency. As the RNC National Committeewoman for Georgia, I will not be silent —and I sure as hell won’t be ignored. Let me be clear: This is not just financial mismanagement. It’s a slap in the face to every grassroots donor who gives their hard-earned dollars to fight for conservative values—not to bankroll steak dinners, personal trainers, dry cleaning, and shady payouts. This is donor abuse. This is financial negligence. And this is exactly how corruption festers—through silence. If they can’t defend the spending, they sure as hell shouldn’t be spending your money.
In appearances across Georgia, at GOP meetings and candidate forums, McKoon has claimed he is "completely transparent." Yet attendees report that as more questions mount, he seems to be focusing on the same talking points while failing to disclose information such as that requested in Ms. Kremer's queries.
The Georgia Record will continue to report on this story.
