Chattanooga, TN (Sept. 14, 2025) - WRCB TV news reported that a suspect was arrested after the shooting of a police officer in McCaysville in northern Georgia.

Residents told WRCB reporter Katherine Vaughn, "This is a relatively safe and quiet town. Something like this has never happened before."

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp put out the following tweet a day earlier. He wrote, "Marty, the girls, and I are asking all Georgians to join us in praying for this officer who was shot in the line of duty, as well as all law enforcement who face this kind of danger on a regular basis to protect their communities."
