Georgia is getting a brief break from the storms this weekend, with humidity finally beginning to ease heading into the weekend.

This afternoon brings a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm, with a high near 92 and heat index values as high as 99. Tonight, storm chances drop to 30 percent before 7pm, with a low around 72, reports Fox5.

Saturday and Sunday bring sunny skies with highs near 92 and lows in the low 70s — a welcome break from the recent stormy pattern. Northwest winds will gust up to 20 mph on Sunday.

Storm chances return next week, with showers and thunderstorms possible Tuesday through Thursday, and highs dropping slightly into the upper 80s by Thursday.

The Georgia Record was relaunched in June of 2021 and has been extremely successful fighting corruption in the state named after King George of England. The original paper was started in 1899 and published into the early 20th century. In 2020, CDM (Creative Destruction Media) acquired Johns Creek Post and brought back The Georgia Record to better represent the state rather than just Johns Creek News.
