David Duong was considered a pillar of his community, an exemplar of the American Dream. Then, he publicly supported Donald Trump for President and his world was turned upside down.
As the Biden regime was hunting for political prosecutions, Duong was placed into their crosshairs. The Biden administration filed charges against Duong at the latest possible moment before being ejected from office, and Duong could face years in prison unjustly as a result.
HIS BACKSTORY
Duong was a lawful immigrant from Vietnam, escaping poverty to claim a better life in the land of the free. He came to America ready to produce value and immediately became active in the business community. Duong founded California Waste Solutions, growing the firm from a small recycling company into a massive success serving over 1.4 million consumers throughout the Northern California region.
Duong, like many Californian immigrants, became a Democrat. Former President Barack Obama actually appointed Duong to the Vietnam Education Foundation, touting his impressive credentials while announcing his appointment in 2010. Duong was a commissioner on the Oakland Waste Reduction and Recycling Commission, a commissioner on the Oakland International Trade Commission, and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Vietnamese American Business Association.
Duong was lauded as a leader of the community where he employed hundreds of Californians, showed his immense generosity by donating millions to help the needy during the COVID pandemic, worked tirelessly to improve diplomatic relations between the U.S. and his native Vietnam, and showed that through assimilation the aspirational American ideal of the melting pot is indeed possible.
DUONG’S POLITICAL SHIFT – AND THE CONSEQUENCES
The U.S. Attorney's Office of San Francisco announced their charges against Duong with remarkable timing. They charged Duong, along with his son Andy Duong and Andre Jones, on Friday, Jan. 17, which was the final business day that the Biden administration still held power. The Biden administration wanted to make sure that the wheels were in motion before Trump took office, and new Attorneys would be put in place who had different priorities than pursuing lawfare cases against successful and influential patriots.
Duong traveled to Washington D.C. to join the joyous celebration of the retaking of America during Trump’s inauguration as the charges against him were announced. Even as Duong’s reputation is torn apart by the government that he has supported throughout the years with millions in tax revenue, Duong has remained steadfast in his support of his nation, believing that as Martin Luther King Jr. once said “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”
The federal government seemingly deployed its usual tactics of finding a dirtbag to lean on in order to fabricate charges against a target. This time, they picked Mario Juarez, a Fruitvale businessman being charged with criminal fraud, to cook up a story against Duong. Duong wasindicted after being implicated in a pay-to-play scheme because of dubious testimony from Juarez. It should come as no surprise that Juarez’s charges were conveniently dismissed after he gave the feds their pound of flesh, showing how the corrupt deep state prosecutorial swamp operates.
In perhaps the most disgusting insult of the prosecution, Duong was demonized for making goodwill missions to Vietnam. The feds claimed without evidence that there was ill intent behind Duong’s trade missions to his native land as he hoped to establish friendlier relations and additional trade between Ho Chi Minh City and the City of Oakland. Because of this indictment, successful patriotic businessmen who are immigrants will be less likely to engage their home countries to spread capitalism and free markets abroad – further alienating America on the world stage and making foreigners more susceptible to propaganda from hostile nations like Russia and China.
REVIVING THE AMERICAN DREAM
Duong ultimately made a sacrifice to follow his conscience. He could have continued supporting the Democrat Party, putting his fortune ahead of national pride and dignity. Duong refused to do so. He openly supported President Trump during the earliest stages of his campaign in 2016. As a result, Duong is forced to suffer because of his willingness to do what is right. The Biden regime attempted to destroy the lives of thousands of Trump-supporting patriots throughout its reign of terror – from electors who refused to endorse voter fraud to peaceful Jan. 6 protesters to attorneys willing to challenge Biden tyranny to even elected officials and other notable public figures. If nothing else, Duong finds himself among elite company as he fights valiantly for his freedom.
The Trump administration’s plan to drain the swamp goes far beyond merely firing federal bureaucrats who uphold Washington D.C’s toxic and corrupt culture. It involves a rigorous review of all the cases pursued by the Biden administration and previous administrations, and righting the many wrongs that have occurred throughout the span of time. This involves dismissing the case filed by the Biden administration against Duong. No businessman should have to worry about being prosecuted for promoting fair trade and free commerce abroad. No immigrant should be under the gun for exercising their political rights under the 1st Amendment. The dismissal of Duong’s case would send a powerful message to lawful immigrants that the Trump administration has their backs.
