The South Carolina gubernatorial race is starting to take form, and with current Governor Henry MacMaster termed out, there are prominent Republicans already lining up to succeed him in the position knowing that the winner of the primary will almost certainly take the governorship in this deep red state.

Early polling shows Congresswoman Nancy Mace and Attorney General Alan Wilson at the top of the pack, separated by a distance of 1 point while most South Carolinian voters remain undecided. Both of the leading candidates – Mace and Wilson – advertise their MAGA bonafides and are making a play for President Trump’s endorsement.

Rep. Mace has postured strongly as a MAGA candidate in the recent past, building momentum for her imminent run for Governor. However, before it became clear that supporting President Trump helped her ambitions, Mace allied herself with the anti-Trumpers, closely aligning herself with Vice President Mike Pence. As the Jan. 6 demonstrations and subsequent fallout occurred, Rep. Mace regularly appeared on the mainstream media to blast President Trump, castigate his supporters and undermine their election integrity efforts.

"This is a very sad day for our nation. I'm devastated and I'm heartbroken right now. This is not who we are... I am so pissed off right now because millions of Americans can be misled to believe that members of Congress can singlehandedly overturn the results of this presidential election via a vote to object the electoral college," Rep. Mace said to the media on Jan. 6.

"Millions of people have been misled to believe that the Vice President of the United States can overturn the results of a presidential election. That is categorically false. That is not anything in our Constitution that Congress and the Vice President is able to do... The expectations have been set so high that they just cannot understand that this is not the role of Congress, and we cannot fight violence with violence," Rep. Mace continued.

Rep. Mace refused to exercise her authority to block the electoral college and stall the coronation of figurehead Joe Biden as President, citing her apparent belief in the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election results.

"I am not going to vote to overturn the results of the Electoral College because I do not believe that Congress knows better than voters or better than the states," Rep. Mace said.

Rep. Mace also attacked President Trump personally in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 demonstration, blaming him for the violence that occurred due to federal provocateurs in the Capitol and expressing a desire to punish President Trump for what happened.

"With censure, that was one of the things that I believe we should have had up for debate," Mace said, expressing her support to censure President Trump over Jan. 6. "It's complex, constitutionally, but there were folks in both chambers and in both parties having the ability to look at that as an option, but we couldn't even bring it up for debate or look at that as an option because we were really trying hard to figure out how do we hold a president accountable that put all of our lives at risk?"

"My children were supposed to be up there. If they had been there like they were supposed to be, I would have been devastated, so we do need to find a way to hold the president accountable," Rep. Mace added.

Rep. Mace even went on CNN where she stated her belief that President Trump’s "entire legacy was wiped out" by Jan. 6. She made it clear she believed it was time to turn the page on President Trump’s movement and bury MAGA for good.

"We've got to start over," she said. "We don't have the ground that we need to push forward and do the things that we need to do to be successful and work for and be the voice for hard-working Americans that believed in his message. We cannot condone the violence ... We've got to rebuild our nation and rebuild our party."

While Rep. Mace was betraying President Trump, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson was holding firm despite overwhelming political pressure to buckle. AG Wilson led the effort of states uniting against the impeachment of President Trump, putting together a 21-state coalition that blasted the partisan circus being put on by Democrats.

AG Wilson also filed an amicus brief with AGs from 15 other states in support of President Trump's appeal of the $355 million judgement in New York AG Leticia James' case over Trump allegedly making false real estate statements. That ruling was recently overturned. He joined a coalition of 24 state AGs to oppose the gag order against President Trump imposed by the court at the behest of Special Prosecutor Jack Smith barring President Trump from calling out his federal oppressors. AG Wilson also showed up to President Trump’s criminal trial in New York to offer moral support and deride the sham trial to the media.

AG Wilson joined the historic effort led by Texas AG Ken Paxton to challenge the electoral results in key battleground states where suspicious abnormalities and irregularities took place in what seemed to be a coordinated fashion. The Supreme Court unfortunately refused to take the case, blocking a crucial avenue to combat the election fraud that took place during the 2020 presidential election. Rep. Mace made it clear that she agreed with the decision by SCOTUS as she argued that these states opposing election fraud ran contrary to “the principles of federalism.”

“I will not be backing this particular court case because it disregards the principles of federalism and relegates too much power to a single state to mandate federal policy for the rest of the country,” Rep. Mace said.

Following AG Wilson’s support of the electoral challenge, he has been dogged by frivolous complaints and had to endure a lengthy baseless investigation to maintain his bar license. There was a coordinated effort by left-wing groups to continue lodging false complaints in order to create a lengthy and costly process to injure AG Wilson and other AGs who had the courage to sign onto the lawsuit. After over four years and hundreds of thousands in fees, the investigation was concluded and AG Wilson’s reputation was finally vindicated.

AG Wilson paid a major price for standing for President Trump and never wavered in his support for President Trump even during the darkest of times. Rep. Mace has reinvented herself as a MAGA supporter after years of being an anti-Trump moderate for the purposes of political expediency, but the voters of South Carolina do not appear to be buying it. Mace’s recent campaign rally only drew eight people and had to be abruptly cancelled out of embarrassment.

Trump Elon and Charlie Kirk all three stated they were going to invest massive amounts of time effort and $$$ to primary current Rinos in Congress and they named a long list of offenders. What happened to that? Trump attacks Massie and Rand Paul instead?

Ace

Mace is a RINO. If SC were not so red she would run as a Demonrat. The only reason she is a "Republican" is because she could not win as a Dem. It's that simple. Most of the Republican party are also Dems who only ran as Rs because they couldn't win as Dems in their state. Basically only leftists run for office today.

RealSCnews

Alan Wilson is another republican candidate who is an anti-trumper.

He puts them on his team.
