Tensions are boiling inside the Department of Justice regarding Donald Trump's appointment of an inexperienced prosecutor to handle explosive cases against his political enemies – including James Comey and Letitia James.
Interim US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Lindsey Halligan forged ahead with convening a grand jury against former FBI Director Comey – despite having little to no support from the Justice Department, a person familiar with the matter characterized to the Daily Mail.
She was forced to argue the case alone to the grand jury, an administration insider confirmed.
They claim the isolation was deliberate, and that DOJ leadership wanted nothing to do with the Comey case because they didn't believe Halligan could secure an indictment.
