Following the House vote to kill release of information regarding the multi-million dollar slush fund created to reportedly "pay-off" and silence potential victims, legislators are trying to beat a fast retreat claiming their vote, while it did prevent disclosure, was actually about protecting victims and their privacy.

As is often the case, researching the actual facts involved can lead to more transparent findings.

Below is the actual Resolution considered by the House H. Res. 1100.

Within the Resolution as considered and voted upon, it contains the following provision:

"not later than 60 days after the date of the adoption of this resolution, make publicly available all final reports, or in such cases where there is not a final report, the most recent draft report, conclusions, recommendations, exhibits, and attached or accompanying materials, with the personally identifiable information of victims, alleged victims, and witnesses redacted.."

AccessWDUN updated it's reporting on the vote to incorporate a statement released by House Rep, Andrew Clyde:

Rep. Clyde's statements appear to ignore the provisions of the Resolution which specifically protect victim's personal info (as well as witnesses) by redacting such information.

As stated previously, Georgians should be prepared to ask EACH and EVERY one of these Reps, at every campaign event, to answer and justify why they voted to kill release of this potentially damning information.

Claiming it was to protect victims personal rights and privacy won't work.
