The new 2026 Miss St. Patrick’s Day was crowned Saturday, and the winner made history, reports WSAV.

Latrell Deorn Reed is the first African American woman to hold the title. Reed was born in Savannah and graduated from Stone Mountain High School.

“I never imagined I would win, but today was my lucky day, the last day of Black History Month,” Reed said.

Reed recently completed New York Fashion Week with Georgia’s Best and Brightest platform, directed by Gloria Arias. This marks her second time competing for Savannah Miss St. Patrick’s Day.

The Georgia Record was relaunched in June of 2021 and has been extremely successful fighting corruption in the state named after King George of England. The original paper was started in 1899 and published into the early 20th century. In 2020, CDM (Creative Destruction Media) acquired Johns Creek Post and brought back The Georgia Record to better represent the state rather than just Johns Creek News.

I’ve heard of “black Irish”, but never really knew what it meant. I’m pretty sure it’s not this.

    That's a joke transferred from the Bee...right?
