Bulloch County Commissioners recently voted to extend a data center moratorium, banning construction of data centers in the county.

One study showed that customers near data centers saw electric bills jump up to 267% over five years.

The purpose of the moratorium is for the county to be prepared if a developer were to show interest. They need to time to sort out local laws and assess potential impacts. The moratorium is extended to the end of the year.

Commissioners also put forward a motion to permanently ban data centers all together.
