I find it suspect that the City Council is just being presented these plans at the work session tonight and then immediately taking a vote on them at the council meeting tonight. This whole parks planning and funding referendum process has been rushed. When politicians rush things through, it usually means there is a tactical reason. Could it be so that funding for the linear park in Tech Park can be quickly raised through taxes to the residents of JC, in order to lay the foundation for The District - without any vote on that project? Could it be to prevent citizens from having further input on these park project plans? Could it be to quickly have something in place so that come election day voters will feel they know what they are voting to fund when voting for the Park Bond (tax increase)? Who knows.
