The Savannah 'acid attack' is still unsolved but the FBI did reveal the agency has identified the substance used in the attack.

Friday the FBI released that they now know what that substance was but are not releasing the name of the substance to the public at this time, reported WTOC.

The substance used in the acid attack that seriously injured a Savannah woman in December was tested by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), an FBI Atlanta spokesperson confirmed Friday.

“Yes, we can confirm SLED did the testing at the request of the FBI in coordination with Savannah Police,” a spokesperson said in a statement to WSAV.

The use of South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is interesting as a previous attack has been highlighted in Hilton Head, SC a year ago due to similarities.

The Georgia Record will be reporting more on this soon.
